Litchfield to Timber Creek

Caught up with my dad and his partner Julie here. Expected to be the only people in the camp ground as it was literally in the middle of nowhere behind the pub, but it was packed people jammed in at all angles with the final van to cram in after dark just stopping in the middle of the road. The truck pulling it was triple axle and large enough to fit an esky which is larger than our fridge at home plus 2 quad bikes. The van was also triple axle – that’s 12 tyres, before you even start paying for fuel, goss was that it was the deluxe – own full bathroom, washing machine and dryer plus dishwasher and full oven. The whole rig required a long load notice.
This kept us entertained but the kids found more excitement in feeding the freshwater crocs off the bridge. This was amazing. You would have sworn that there weren’t any crocs there; they threw in some bread to attract the fish then threaded up some fencing wire with meat and dangled it over, then propelling half its body length out of the water a croc snatched it and immediately disappeared, no wonder people get taken. The kids had a ball feeding them.
Having a bit of time zone challenge and the kids are waking as early 5.30 and this morning I didn’t shush them back to sleep as the van next door had kept us awake with their really bad British Comedy with canned laughter up really loud, other than using facilities the only thing they did was watch TV – why do they leave home?
Bunked out early to check out the local lookout and Army Bridge. Size is just incredible, geography is on the grand scale and you can’t really capture it with the camera, but still managing to take heaps of photos. The army has acquired a lump of land across the river and built a bridge with walk way across it so you can go and watch for crocs but sadly the water was too murky.
