What's The Big Adventure???
Well for a few years now we've been wanting to do the big trip - the one everyone dreams about - a real outback adventure. We've planned it for many years, scrimped and saved (especially Gordon's holidays) and this year it's actually happening.
It's destination Broome (guess you have to have a destination), but the destination isn't really the goal. The goal is the journey that we'll take together as a family.
We plan to post regularly (when we have internet access and mains power) - not sure how often - to let Morgan & Jack stay in touch with their mates, and to let their mates write back to them. We hope it works out. Twelve weeks away is a long time. This will become our travel journel, we will even let Gordon contribute occassionally
We're setting off on 4th July 2010 from our home in Woonona to do a big loop around Australia - through Mt Isa to Darwin, along the Gibb River Road to Broome, back through the Tanami Desert to Alice Springs, then down the Eyre Peninsula to Kangaroo Island. We'll go along the Great Ocean Road to Melbourne and hopefully pop across to Tassie for a few days. From there we'll amble home, and I'm sure we'll all be different people by the time we do all that.
Morgan & Jack will get a term off school, but we think they'll learn more in these 12 weeks than they would have otherwise.
